What is GSAP? It's the Ground Safety Action Program and it's rolling out soon to SFO. GSAP is a FAA sponsored, voluntary, self-reporting program designed to identify and reduce posssible safety hazards.
Simply put GSAP is a way to examine the root cause of an accident or incident and take action to prevent it from happening again.
How it works - an event occurs, Member informs Manager and Union GSAP Rep of the event, Company begins investagation, Member files a GSAP Report through an online tool, no punitive action will be taken if the ERC accepts the report and the skills enhancement plan is complete. If the ERC rejects the report the Company will continue with standard investigation and discipline will be issued if warrented.
The GSAP ERC is the Event Review Committee - which is made up of the FAA, the Association, and AA Corporate Safety.
GSAP is voluntary and confidential ! TWU Local 505 recomends filing a GSAP when there is an event - it could help someone else avoid the same event........
SFO Local 505 GSAP Rep is Rick Castillo
