The following paragraphs are a message I received from the SAO Office Manager at SFO.  Please read and be aware the content of the message and in particular the last paragraph…if you are exchanging wine or spirts with someone at work or bringing someone a bottle for a gift, make sure and keep all wine or spirt exchange or gift giving away from work.  Even if having alcohol with you has innocent reasons be aware it will still be an infraction and could affect your job.

“There has been a recent increase in the number of employees who have been caught in possession of Drugs and/or Alcohol while access Restricted Areas of the Airport. Please remind all of your employees, that as stated in the Airport Rules and Regulations Section 7.3 (E)(1), “No Airport ID badge holder may transport into the Restricted Area any alcohol or any drug identified by the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) as a “Schedule I” drug, nor may any individual with an Airport ID badge ingest alcohol or a Schedule I drug eight or fewer hours before work or while at work, including breaks. Schedule I drugs are: heroin, LSD, marijuana, ecstasy, methaqualone, and peyote.”

An infraction issued in regards to possession of these items is considered to be a Safety and Security related violation. As such, and consistent with Airport Rules and Regulations Chapter 14.4, this may result in the immediate suspension or permanent revocation of an Airport ID badge or driving privileges, at the sole discretion of the Airport.

This includes all alcohol including bottles of wine for gifts and or parties. Anyone caught in possession of these items while attempting to gain access to a restricted areas will be cited with the Airport Rules and Regulations listed above.”
