| 40 HOURS STATE SICK and KIN CARE STATE SICK * WHAT IT IS :  State Sick * 40.0 is an enhancement from the 24.0 hours from last year. These hours are “frontloaded” or “loaned” to you for use while you are accruing the contractual amount of sick bank. If you need sick hours before you accrue them, then these hours will cover that time – however the hours will be re-couped as you accrue. WHAT IT ISN’T :  State Sick *, (as seen on your paystub), does NOT add extra 40 hours to your sick bank. State Sick does NOT give you extra 40 hours of non-chargeable absences. Kin Care rules still apply as shown below. KIN CARE HOW MANY HOURS PER YEAR : Kin Care allows ½ of the number of hours you would accrue in a year as sick bank to be used as non-chargeable absence. FT accrues 80 hours per year, so 40 hours may be used as Kin Care. PT accrues 50 hours per year, so 25 hours may be used as Kin Care. NOTE :  All protected (no points for absence) leaves, run concurrently – which means when you use FMLA your available Kin Care hours are being used too, if you are out IOD and qualify for FMLA your available Kin Care hours are being used too. Kin Care hours will be deducted from your Sick Hours and Sick Hours State simultaneously. Keep track of how much Kin Care you have used - if you go beyond 40 hours FT, and 25 hours PT the absence will be coded SK and you will get attendance point(s) Download:
