  • INJURY ON DUTY - PRE-DESIGNATE DOCTOR
    Updated On: Jul 14, 2022

    Reminder  -  Plan Ahead  -  IOD – Doctor Pre-designation

No one wants to get hurt at work, but we work in a dangerous environment and accidents are bound to happen. Be prepared ahead of time so you’ll know what to do before, during, and after an event that injures you.

A good place to start is listening to the Local 505 Podcast “Unpacked” the Injury on Duty episode. Link to Podcast on Local 505 Website (twu505.org) and on Local 505 phone app. Jetnet also has information under Team Member Services, view more, Health and Benefits, Workers Comp.

American uses a vendor to administer their Workers Comp claims, Sedgwick is that vendor. If you need or seek medical attention for your injury, you will be required to be treated by a Doctor in the Sedgwick network. It is not necessary to treat at the Airport Clinic, you may choose a Doctor that is in network near your home. You can search by your zip code to find a provider in your area, the search is on Jetnet by linking the Network Provider Look Up in the Workers Comp partition.

For Members who would like to be treated at a Kaiser facility, Kaiser is currently in the Sedgwick network – be sure to check in at the Occupational Service area at your location first before being treated.

If you prefer to be treated by your own Doctor, you must fill out and submit a Pre-designation Form before your date of injury. The form is attached here or is available to download on Jetnet. Fill out the form anytime and give to a member of Management. It is a good idea to check with your Doctor of choice that their office does Workers Comp cases……not all Doctors do. This form is new as of July 1, 2014, if you have filed a Pre-designation prior to that date you will need to re-submit using this form. Make sure the form is in prior to date of injury.

Remember that Workers Comp is a “no-fault” insurance, this means you are covered no matter whose fault the injury was. You will not be disciplined for being injured.

More information is attached here, or reach out to the Local if you have more questions.
