It’s almost that time of year again !
Vacation bidding for 2024 is just around the corner. Now is a good time to start thinking about which weeks you want to try for vacation in 2024.
First, we will use the Vacation Election Form to designate how many weeks you would like to hold back as DAT (day at a time); then once that process is complete, we will have Vacation Bidding for remaining weeks.
Things to consider for DAT and Vacation Bid:
You do not have to take any DAT weeks – if you do choose to elect some DAT, it is limited to the number of weeks you have minus two; example if you have 5 weeks of vacation for 2024 then you may elect to take 3 weeks DAT and 2 weeks’ Vacation.
Anyone who has less than a week accrued vacation or has partial weeks (1 week and 3 days) due to new hire status or not making the accrued qualifiers – those days will be assigned as DAT.
DAT may only be used in full day increments; it can be used to “pay” yourself for any full day swap offs or can be used as a day off with pay with management's approval. Also, DAT can be used for “pay” yourself for Caregiver FMLA.
DAT day off requests (without swap coverage) must be submitted in writing to Management no less than 7 days prior to requested date off and Management must respond no later than 3 days prior to that date with approval or deny. Be advised the Company considers “needs of service” when approving DAT, which means not all or any day you request will be accommodated. Don’t be surprised if it’s not – have a backup plan.
Unused DAT days for 2024 will be paid out at end of January 2025 – DAT does not roll into the following year.
NOTE: Vacation Bidding is bid separately for CC, FT, and PT and will take place after the DAT elections. Vacation can only be bid in full week increments.
