Attention TWU Members

You are currently working in an IAM Represented Association station, but you are still a TWU Member. Prior to negotiations an agreement was made with the Association Leadership as to which stations would be IAM or TWU Represented; your current station is IAM.

Since law prohibits the Association from making you quit one Union and join another, you will for the remainder of you career with American Airlines be a TWU Member. Your Local affiliation may change but not your Union.

You are now and for your time in SMF will be an active Member with TWU Local 505. This is because SMF is a section of Local 505, your Union dues are now being paid to Local 505. You may have been recalled, transferred, or bid into SMF from your home station which was a different TWU Local and when that happened you were changed from that Local to 505.

Local 505 was chartered in 1946 and we have a long history of strong Union representation. We welcome you ! For daily concerns, writing up contractual grievances, attendance discussions, and some discipline issues the IAM Rep on property will assist you. The 505 will be here when there are grievances that reach the GRB Level or discharge cases, and always to guide the IAM Rep on property.

The Local 505 website and phone app will keep you connected with your Local 505 Sisters and Brothers in all our stations. Each “Section” has useful specific station information, and the website/app has lots of general TWU information which applies to you as well. We will update your sections with information we receive from American Airlines, if you have more updated information or other ideas of things you’d like posted – reach out to us !

Remember we are all in this Association together and have one JCBA – I encourage all of you to reach out to the IAM Rep and to the other CC and FSA to get more insight on your station and build relationships.
