New Attendance Policy for all Sections and all Members

American has announced a new “aligned” attendance policy for all Association represented Members. The policy begins on November 15, 2021.

The new policy is pretty much what LUS/IAM have been using. It is based on a point system for absences, lates, and no-shows. The system is based on a rolling 12-month like our old system.

The Local has concerns about the “double points” for “critical operation periods” (holidays) and not calling off one hour before an occurrence. Also concerns about the “off par” reporting to management and providing Doctor note under penalty of moving up a step without the note.

Stand by for more information as these concerns are addressed.

How does the new policy transition? Read below from the Jetnet FAQ page.

What will happen to my current attendance record?
IAM-represented team members will only carry over their current level(s), which will be their starting point when the new guidelines become effective. TWU-represented employees will only have their advisory converted to a level, per the below chart, which will be their starting point

What will happen to my attendance going forward under the new policy?
Moving forward, from the effective date of the new policy (Nov. 15, 2021), the company will track chargeable attendance occurrences and their cumulative point total and apply the new policy accordingly. If a level has been issued, attendance is reviewed during the effective period of the review level, which is 12 months of active service starting on the date the level was issued to the team member.

So, for us all occurrences will be zeroed out, however if you are on an advisory letter that will remain and be re-named a “level”.

Please read all information in Jetnet, take the Learning Hub lesson, and attend the next General Membership Meeting (October 22nd) to get more details about this new policy.
