HOLD THE LINE - ADVANCE - WIN
That was the theme for the TWU International Convention held in Las Vegas on September 13 - 17th. Local 505 was represented by delegate President Jennifer Platt.
The Convention is made up of delegates from all divisions of the TWU, there were about 500 delegates and Officers present. Covid percautions were taken and attendees wore masks.
One of the orders of business was to elect our International Officers, the election was held and the Samulesen Slate was re-elected. The slate included Mike Mayes (Local 505), who was elected to the office of International Administrative Vice President ! GO MIKE !
Many resolutions were voted on and carried by the body - a full text of the resolutions will be posted here soon.
Speakers included; Representive Hakeem Jeffries, Randi Weingarten (President American Federation of Teachers), Elizabeth Shuler (AFL-CIO President), and Marty Walsh (US Secretary of Labor).
