  • UPDATE FROM THE LOCAL 07.22.21
    Posted On: Jul 22, 2021

A special shout out to everyone who came to the Meeting and Zoomed in - it was great to see you and we had good discussions.........see you all next month. In the meantime here is a brief update of some of the covered topics. This post will be updated as I get confirmed agreement with the Company.

    NOTE FROM THE LOCAL

    ALL STATIONS

EAP REP TWU LOCAL 505 – Skip Hovorka  650.274.9776

ARTICLE 18 (Y) – MANDATORY ASSIGNMENT OF OVERTIME

Most important language is “Mandatory overtime will only be used when the Company determines it is essential to meet the minimum needs of service and all voluntary options will be exhausted prior to utilizing mandatory overtime.”

Also, Article 18 (Y)(4) provides that “The Company will make reasonable efforts to give employees a minimum of two (2) hour notice for mandatory overtime.”

So, that means the Company must exhaust all OT sign ups and all OT voluntary (even if someone goes into double time) before mandatory. Also, the need must be essential to meet the minimum needs of service – which means they can’t make you stay because they want things to happen faster or if there already is a full Crew. In order to “mando” you there must be a manpower shortage to the regular scheduled bid, or there would need to be a “one off” like a diversion or extreme weather. If they have full complement of personnel and there is no emergency, then the minimum need has been met.

The Company must make a reasonable effort to give you two (2) hour notice of mandatory overtime. If there is a known delay or diversion, they should know and make plans. Their failure to plan ahead does not constitute an emergency.

    SFO STATION ONLY

TWU SAFETY REP SFO – Dorsey Porter (GSE Mechanic Shop Steward) you will see him at the Ramp doing safety checks and speaking with the Fleet Group about your safety concerns.

MY TIME ABSENCE REPORTING – when prompted for Department on drop down use Customer Operations for Fleet, other groups are listed.

Watch for further updates regarding: OT call out while on duty; Open Time CC assignment; Extra CC on a bid line assignment; back up sick call line if My Time cannot be used
